Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave

Wallace

The main character of Wallace and Gromit. According to his creator, Nick Park, he was partly modeled after Park’s own father. He lives with Gromit, who is technically his pet dog but in reality is more like a companion or close friend. In his younger days, he had shaggy orange hair and a mustache, but after Gromit’s university graduation photo, he gradually lost his hair and eventually became bald as he appears now. Officially, he is described as an “eccentric inventor.” His usual outfit consists of a white shirt, a green knitted pullover, brown wool trousers, and a red necktie. Except when he is sleeping or working, he almost always wears this combination. Interestingly, the process of putting on this outfit is rather peculiar: instead of simply pulling the pullover over the shirt like most people, he uses a machine to insert his arms into the sleeves (like putting on arm warmers), and then the pullover is swiftly fitted over him. When he sleeps, he wears only his underwear. From time to time, he has a habit of waving his hand in an endearing manner. Since the time of his creation, he has consistently been loved as one of Britain’s most iconic characters.

Gromit

The main character of Wallace and Gromit. Wallace’s pet dog, family, assistant, and friend, but in reality, he is the greatest victim of Wallace’s accidents in the story, always cleaning up the aftermath and acting as his guardian. He occupies a role similar to Brain, the pet dog of Inspector Gadget. At the same time, he is practically the true protagonist of this work.
